Year in Review

By the Grace of God, The Kawthar Project has been successfully running for two years! Here’s a review of what we’ve accomplished!

The Layla Journal – Almost one year ago, TKP announced the first Layla Journal. Since then, we’ve published 2 journals, with a 3rd on the way. We collaborated with over 25 poets and artists for a rough total of 130 pages of unique content.

Travels – In the past year, we’ve attended two separate Muslim Congress conferences (2017 and 2018) and LIFE 2018. We met so many wonderful people! Thank you to everyone who signed up for our mailing list and stopped by our booths!

Growth – The Kawthar Project was started by one individual, ran by two, and is now on track to growing further! We recently added a new social media manager and found two supervising ulema. Additionally, we are working on putting together a new editorial team for The Layla Journal Vol 4.

Looking forward

The Kawthar Project was started with the following in mind:

  • Providing education on Islamic concepts in an easily understandable manner, distributed across social media and in print
  • Encouraging art and creativity in the Islamic community
  • Identify and create content for under-served needs in the Islamic community

Our target audiences are creative Muslims living in the West, people seeking English resources on Islam, and women.

In line with these goals, here’s what we have planned for the future:

The Layla Journal – We are now switching to a 6-month schedule, one in Muharram and one in Rajab. Starting from volume 4, we will also be using a brand new editorial team!

Upcoming Projects – We have several unreleased projects in the works, including smaller print projects.
